Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were notified by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police report preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for details.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
